Siniat is supplying their plasterboard and metal framing products for Lendlease’s One Sydney Harbour project in the Barangaroo precinct of Sydney.

The project

Siniat Australia has proudly partnered with Lendlease for the exciting One Sydney Harbour project, currently under construction in Barangaroo and scheduled for completion in 2024.

One Sydney Harbour is a residential high-rise complex that will transform one of the world’s most iconic harbours. Upon completion it will consist of three towers that will be built to heights of 250m (72 floors), 235m (68 floors) and 107m (30 floors) respectively and include a total of 849 apartments.

The buildings are designed by the well-known architect Renzo Piano, who also designed the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, The Shard in London and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.

The project is committed to a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating and will meet the requirements of the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX).

In 2009, before construction of the precinct had begun, the NSW Government committed Barangaroo to the Climate Positive Development Program. Established under the Clinton Climate Initiative, the program later became part of C40 Cities. Barangaroo is one of only 19 projects around the world participating in the C40 Cities Climate Positive Development Program.

Being climate positive under the C40 program has four key requirements:

  1. Reducing and then offsetting all the energy used on the site
  2. Recycling and exporting more water than the drinking water that is imported
  3. Responsible waste management, diversion from landfill and zero waste emissions
  4. Delivering community wellbeing.

It’s the second time Siniat has partnered with Lendlease on a project in the Barangaroo precinct. The first was the Barangaroo South Residential Waterfront project, completed in 2015. Read more about this project here.

The products

Siniat is helping Lendlease achieve its sustainability targets for this project by supplying plasterboard and metal products under the Siniat Carbon Neutral Opt-In Program. The program is certified under the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program (formerly NCOS).

“We have expanded the program since the first stage of residential apartments at Barangaroo South, and it’s been exciting to provide Lendlease with more opportunities to achieve their carbon neutral goals,” said Kathryn Walker, Siniat’s national WHS & sustainability manager.

“The Siniat Carbon Neutral Program is now available for all locally made Siniat plasterboard and metal framing products, whereas it was only available on certain plasterboard products in 2015.”
