Siniat attended the 2022 Sustainability Awards and Summit held recently at the Shangri-La in Sydney. Siniat was not only a Summit participant but also a sponsor of the Public Building category at the Awards.

At the Summit, Siniat’s national architectural manager Nazli Almasirad participated in a panel discussion on the topic ‘A complete solution: Investigating the Product Life Cycle’. All ten Summit sessions were eagerly attended by 300 in-person and 320 online attendees. According to the event organisers, Architecture & Design, architects made up 60 per cent of the attendees of the Summit, which was a CPD-point earning educational event.

The Awards evening was a glamorous event where the best of over 250 entries were announced and celebrated.

Congratulations once again to DesignInc Melbourne who took home the Public Building award. Their entry, Glenroy Community Hub located in the City of Merri-bek, got the judges’ winning nod. This is the first Passive House certified community building in Australia.

The Hub is a ‘resilient building’ that has been designed to provide a place of refuge for the community. It can operate for 7 days without external power, and Passive House thermal performance mitigates external extreme temperatures while the mechanical ventilation system filters pollutants (or bushfire smoke) from the air.

“Siniat has been a category sponsor of the Sustainability Awards for four consecutive years. It was good to return to an in-person event this year and engage with architects and designers face-to-face,” said Siniat marketing manager Stephanie Olsen.

“Over the past four years we have seen the event evolving into a vibrant think-tank where sustainable strategies and practices are discussed and debated. One can definitely see sustainability become a main driver in the construction industry and our business is proud of being part of the solution. It’s clear that radical collaboration between architects, builders and suppliers will be necessary to meet the sustainability targets of the future.”

Stephanie added that Siniat has already confirmed its ongoing sponsorship of the event in 2023.
