Interior designer Lynne Bradley employed a series of elements to meet the design brief for a bathroom renovation at a grand heritage home. The brief sought the guest bathroom to be redesigned into a glamourous contemporary space that also referenced the past.
The centrepiece of the new bathroom is the custom curved vanity featuring Smartstone Statuario Venato. Known for its luminous white background with distinctive, fluid grey veining, this stunning Smartstone surface combines innovation with function.
For the designer, Statuario Venato was key to achieving the design vision of luxury and glamour while preserving a hint of antiquity. Lynne was drawn to the whiteness of the background of Smartstone’s Statuario Venato, which created a luxurious and fresh contrast to the depth of the charcoal-coloured joinery in the bespoke vanity.
She added that it was important to unify the surfaces by repeating a marble look on the vanity top and splashback; by using Smartstone she was able to achieve both beauty and durability.
Built by Cibo Design, the vanity visually connects the three zones in the bathroom: a spacious shower room, the dressing space, and a freestanding bath surrounded by garden and sky views. The exquisite marble floors feature a central ‘mat effect’ with marble mosaic tiles, creating the vibe of a furnished room than a bathroom.
