Style Timber Floor worked with the interior design team to produce a custom open tread engineered timber staircase and living area flooring for a new house in East Lindfield, NSW.
Featuring a modern design that sets the standard for contemporary living, the house overlooks the Gordon Creek and offers beautiful views over freshwater and dense forestry. The luxurious aesthetic of the home’s interiors complements the spectacular natural environment outside.
Style Timber’s bespoke product and finish not only became a focal point throughout the house, but also helped to draw the outside environment into the ultra-modern interiors.
“Working with just one wall, we needed to use an open stringer, which isn’t attached to the stairs for this open tread staircase. Using our wealth of experience and acute attention to detail, we were able to create a sleek, modern staircase that creates a floating illusion. Designers and architects are using timber for staircases more than ever. With the ability to match the staircase to the flooring within the home, it creates a seamless effect, forming the idea of having a much larger footprint throughout the house,” explained Style Timber managing director Jack Wang.
Property owner Amy appreciated the support extended by Style Timber throughout the project. Seeking a floor that would create a unique statement as well as a natural and authentic feel, they chose the Chalet Collection, which uses random widths and lengths often seen in European developments.
“This flooring complements our contemporary design and flows throughout the house,” she added.
The colour tone was selected to create a powerful statement as well as balance against the interior design features and the outdoors, with the matte finish creating a calming textural experience.
A high level of technology went into producing the timber staircase, with its final finish and floating effect making it a striking feature of the house while also creating a distinctive architectural statement based on the viewing angle.
