The ABET High Pressure Laminate (HPL) range from Surface Squared was selected by The Buchan Group for a unique installation at the Tarneit Central Shopping Centre, Victoria.
The Buchan Group in Melbourne wanted a unique bulkhead design when setting out the finishing wall features at the Tarneit Central Shopping Centre. The brickwork pattern on the bulkhead wall was designed using the definitive colour palette available from the ABET High Pressure Laminate (HPL) range, and pressing the HPL onto a substrate with clever aesthetic design. The natural colour scheme encapsulates the play of light and shade at various times of the day.
Four ABET colours, 406, 420, 1810 and 868 in HR-LAQ gloss finish, were used by the installer, Star Ceilings together with a recessed aluminium highlight black channel and edged with Black ABS from Surface Squared, which outlined and featured each panel to The Buchan Group’s preferred layout.
Alternative substrates specialist Surface Squared was able to support the architect’s design concept by finding a solution for the finished experience. ABET's HPL range offers a 0.9mm thick decorative surface versus the 0.1mm thickness available in pre-finished boards, increasing durability and longevity. Pre-finished boards are limited by a small colour range as well as a single sheet size that doesn’t accommodate a broad creative concept.
Star Ceilings Operations Manager Kyle Savage said the installation went smoothly, and met the overall design objectives of The Buchan Group, which wouldn’t have been possible with pre-finished board.
