Jakob tensile cables from Tensile were used in a unique application in a village near Baden, Germany during the Christmas season. The cables were used to suspend the catenary lighting, one of the key elements of the Christmas market in the village.
Suspended from a series of Jakob tensile cables and fittings, the lighting installation comprises of several LED luminaires to achieve a flexible arrangement of illumination in various shapes, colours and effects.
A key advantage of the suspended catenary lighting is that the space underneath can be used to the maximum, creating post-free pedestrian-friendly spaces. Catenary lighting systems can be created with pendant luminaires, tubes and LEDs among many other lighting possibilities.
