Sustainability has always been an integral part of Bolon’s identity, with the flooring specialist following a green vision across their production process.
All Bolon products are developed and manufactured in accordance with the strictest environmental standards. Bolon’s use of modern, best practice PVC is representative of their green vision and is aligned with their sustainability objectives.
To the environmentally-aware world outside, PVC is a material that is considered to be extremely toxic to the ecosystem. Containing several harmful ingredients such as lead, chromium, cadmium and phthalates, PVC soon became a material that most people learnt to avoid. Fortunately, PVC has undergone massive changes for the better, and modern, best-practice PVC is 100% safe and sustainable.
From PVC containing salt + oil...
For instance, the PVC used in Bolon’s production process is a non-toxic, inert polymer derived from natural resources such as salt and oil. Completely free of harmful chemicals such as phthalates and heavy metals, Bolon’s PVC is a durable plastic, which is 100 per cent recyclable due to its unique polymer structure and can be recycled multiple times after its long lifecycle of at least 25 years.
To natural salt + forest waste
Continuously invested in their sustainability goals, Bolon is currently collaborating with a leading European manufacturer to develop BIO PVC from natural salt and forest waste. Bolon aims to switch to BIO PVC by 2020, helping them achieve their objective to use 100% renewable resources in their production.
