Premium grade shopfront doors from The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) were once again specified for a luxury store at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. ATDC had successfully delivered a similar installation for the same client, DFS Group at the same airport last year.
ATDC worked closely with internationally renowned shopfitters Kingsmen & Co throughout the design and installation process to secure the luxury store’s valuable merchandise with their cutting edge shopfront doors.
Louis Vuitton has a majority stake in DFS Group, a world-leading retailer operating a global network of duty-free shops and employing over 9000 people in 11 countries. DFS has utilised ATDC’s shopfront doors at many of their international stores in Hong Kong, Australia and Vietnam. Most of the installations have been executed by ATDC in close collaboration with DFS’ specifying architects, structural engineers, project managers and shopfitters to solve all technical, design, installation and time challenges.
Key features of ATDC’s latest installation for the DFS Group in Ho Chi Minh City airport include 300mm panel polycarbonate infill doors; curtain manufactured from extruded aluminium sections with interlocking hinges suspended from a rigid overhead support track by commercial grade hangers; metal bearings permitting the curtain to fold, slide and stack in a low friction action for functional integrity and longevity; and S-bend curve shape in the top track with a 600mm radius allowing the door to change position relative to the lease line at different points along the span.
The doors also featured up/down locking mechanisms to achieve a speedy, efficient and seamless lock-up without the need for any permanent mullions to lock onto or cumbersome removable mullions normally used in overhead doors such as roller shutters.
