The INEX>MAXIDECK from UBIQ was installed on the external verandah of
a tourist accommodation located in Airlie Beach, Queensland.
The owner of Whitsunday Moorings Bed & Breakfast sought a timber
deck appearance for the verandah but without the cost or ongoing maintenance of
timber.
UBIQ’s INEX>MAXIDECK composite decking was found to be the perfect
solution for the application. Grooves 3mm deep were first routed into the rough
side of INEX>MAXIDECK, with the decking then finished with three coats of water
based wood stain and sealed with a proprietary sealer (Glaze by Shalex). The
result was a stunning timber like deck appearance as desired by the owner.
Owner Peter Brooks said the installation was completed in a fraction of
the time required for timber decking, even though the INEX>MAXIDECK sheets measured
2700x600mm. He is happy to have received an affordable long-term durable
solution without the ongoing issues of timber in a tropical environment.
INEX>MAXIDECK is manufactured from UBIQ’s revolutionary low carbon
Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) technology, providing the assurance of long
term durability. Being non-combustible, the composite decking is suitable for
use in all bushfire prone zones including BAL-FZ when fixed to a complying
floor structure.
