Uni-Shape mouldings from Unitex® were used in two developments that won the builder the HIA-CSR Housing Award two years in a row.
Winning the same award two years running indicates a consistently high level of skill and design by Master Builder Brian Lee who received the HIA Australian Townhouse/Villa Development of the Year Award in 2010 and has won it again in 2011 for his Canterbury (Victoria) project featuring two side-by-side townhouses.
The 2011 project features a neo-classic design with French influences and fine finishes. The judges commended the builder for the attention-to-detail and workmanship in this development.
According to Brian Lee, the detail on the elevation of the townhouses came from Uni-Shape mouldings, adding that most of the style as well as the architectural design and roofing were achieved through these mouldings.
The award-winning homes feature custom-designed, tapered parapet mouldings to blend the front walls into the Mansard roof, which is finished with imported terracotta tiles from France.
Classically cut architrave mouldings frame the windows and the block cut quoins protect corners, providing a structured finish to edges at ground level and on the upper storey.
Uni-Shape pier caps have been used at the entrance to help blend the fence appearance with the front of the townhouses and complement finishes on the portico columns.
Brian Lee has used Uni-Shape mouldings in previous projects since they are easier to work with than concrete and add the right finishing touches.
