Viridian is seeing an increased demand from homeowners for translucent
glass to provide both permanent privacy and natural light.
Aware how the design of their living space affects their environment,
homeowners are more inclined towards open plan, light filled homes that also
offer privacy and style. There is a rising consumer demand for translucent
glass as it offers both privacy and natural light economically.
Viridian’s Home Comfort Manager Daniel Black says consumers prefer translucent
glass over alternative options such as patterned glass, due to its contemporary
and stylish appearance that transforms both modern and older homes.
Sales of Viridian’s privacy glass options have increased by an average
of 29% in the last year alone, indicating the
growing consumer appreciation for translucent glass and its benefits. The
company is also tailoring its range to offer an expansive collection of
translucent glass products, assisting residential window fabricators in meeting
this market trend as well as facilitating a wide variety of design
requirements. Viridian’s offerings include both frosted white and grey options,
which can be used in any number of interior and exterior applications.
With homeowners seeking a living space that offers privacy and sanctuary
from the outside world without compromising entry of natural light, builders
and developers are always looking for glazing solutions that will help meet
their client’s needs. Daniel adds that translucent glass products are versatile
in application, work effectively and look good in both modern and older homes,
especially in bathrooms where privacy is an essential requirement.
Viridian’s VLam Translucent and Viridian VLam Translucent Grey are
popular translucent glass products for screening and privacy requirements. The frosted
appearance in these glass options is created by bonding two or more sheets of
glass together with a PVB interlayer, resulting in a durable glazing material
that can be used for a variety of interior and exterior applications including
internal partitions, balustrades, roof lights, windows and shower screens.
Viridian’s additional offerings in translucent glass include Viridian
DécorSatin and Viridian DecorSatin Grey, both offering high light transmission
and excellent privacy. Suitable for any number of interior and exterior
applications including partitioning, doors, windows and louvres, Viridian
DécorSatin and DecorSatin Grey have a non-reflective matt satin surface, which allows
up to 90% of light, but diffuses it to give a natural feel. Both are float
glass products, where one side has been treated with an acid etch to produce a
satin finish that is both moisture- and UV-resistant. The glass can be toughened
or combined as part of an insulated glass unit, and is less susceptible to
staining.
Viridian has recently launched the Living Space campaign to help homeowners
recover natural light in their own living spaces. Aiming to start a social
conversation on the subject, the Living Space campaign looks at the impact of natural
light on home comfort, wellbeing, sense of freedom and space, social
interaction and connection to the outside environment.
