Located in Bowden, South Australia, The Prince’s Terrace Adelaide development is a unique collaboration between Defence Housing Australia (DHA), redevelopment authority Renewal SA, and Prince Charles’ personal charity, The Prince’s Trust Australia.
The unusual meeting of minds has produced a modern take on Australia’s much-loved terrace houses, comprising eight three-bedroom townhouses with four mews apartments behind. They are an important example of alternative medium-density housing in a city with strong yearnings for detached homes and big backyards.
The philosophy behind the design was to blend rich, local heritage with contemporary living.
In March 2018, the project officially achieved a ‘6 Star Green Star Design and As Built’ certification from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
This follows on from the Terrace being the first residential development in Australia to receive a 6 Star Green Star rating at Design Review.
It has also set a new record becoming the first building in South Australia and the first multi-unit residential complex in the country, to achieve a 6 Star Green Star As Built rating.
With the highest total score of any development in the state, the project has set the bar for Green Star ratings in South Australia and has proved that the finished structure has truly delivered on its visionary design.
