While there are many educational institutions across the country, there is always a need to innovate. As new forms of learning, teaching and researching come to fruition, we must find a way to foster these processes and techniques. If we are going to create new facilities to house students and researchers, architects of the future must demonstrate what has been learnt, that sustainably designed facilities will stimulate learning, without bringing harm to the world around us.
The Sustainability Awards’ Education & Research category is the showcase for entrants who submit a child care centre, preschool, primary, secondary or tertiary educational facility or a facility where an educational institution is a partner. Winners of the category typically provide students and researchers the best possible opportunity to be at their best at all times, while ensuring the materials and methods used to create and operate the space are empathetic towards the wider world.
Alspec is the proud sponsor of the Education & Research category for 2021. Recognising the singular place in the built environment industry and the standing that Sustainability Awards has achieved, Alspec’s National Specification Manager, Ross Baynham, says the company is delighted to be a partner of the awards in a number of categories, including Best of the Best and Education & Research.
“The Sustainability Awards does more than just acknowledge the achievements of excellence in sustainable design, it acts as a catalyst in some sense. The Sustainability Awards ultimately helps propel the industry forward, which is only a good thing for the whole built environment community,” he says.
“By celebrating what has been achieved by the industry leaders in this space, we can encourage and compel the wider construction industry on a journey of Sustainability.”
