Being a daily architecture rag, we see our fair share of projects. While we don’t pretend to hold a candle to the architects and designers who create these incredible projects, we like to think that we know a thing or two about what’s what.
This year, we're thrilled to bring back the Editor's Choice category for its third edition. Unlike other categories, Editor Branko Miletic has the unique task of selecting his favourite project from all submissions, which typically centres around community and social outcomes.
With a career spanning 23 years, Miletic has covered a wide array of topics and industries, from Government and Manufacturing to Lifestyle and Sport. His work has been recognised with numerous journalism awards, including Editor of the Year and Best Article of the Year.
Last year, Miletic chose Aboriginal Housing Victoria by Breathe Architecture as the Editor's Choice winner. This project is a testament to housing First Nations people in culturally sensitive, affordable, and safe homes. It represents a paradigm shift in affordable housing, emphasising sustainability and cultural sensitivity.
Aboriginal Housing Victoria sets a new standard in affordable housing by prioritising both Country and sustainability. The project minimises operational, embodied, and behavioural carbon, boasting an all-electric design with high-efficiency fixtures and a high-performing thermal envelope (8.2 NatHERs).
We're also delighted to announce that Sika will once again partner us in promoting the Editor's Choice category. Sika is renowned for its commitment to sustainability and its development of innovative products that reduce environmental impact in the building and construction industry.
The winner of the Editor's Choice category will be unveiled at an in-person ceremony later this year. We eagerly anticipate your submissions as entries open in the coming months, and we can't wait to see which project will earn the coveted Editor's Choice award.
