DCB Development’s Project Manager Brent Wilkie says using AFS Logicwall systems for this large-scale project was a no-brainer.

Why AFS:

The huge scale of DCB’s Currumbin Service Centre development meant material selection during the planning stage of the project was critical. As Project Manager Brent Wilkie describes, sourcing materials early on in the project was beneficial to compliance and certification processes, which helped the team plan an efficient rollout for each stage.

Prefabricated systems that already met certification and compliance standards meant the team knew what they were getting and could plan accordingly. This included creating panels to construct 8.2-metre walls for Buildings 2 and 4, amongst the tallest single-level walls that have been built out of AFS Logicwall.

With a wide range of public amenities such as a service station, gymnasium, retail spaces and cafes, the Currumbin Service Centre is expected to be well-received by the community in the southern Gold Coast corridor. Identified as a growth area, they have experienced limited exposure to national brands and centrally located amenities, which is likely to change with this impressive project.

What the builder says:

“With a pre-cast 19,000m² base podium, we needed a prefabricated or modular solution for installation as well as a well-engineered system for our structural walling. Structural integrity was paramount and we knew AFS Logicwall systems would provide that for us, so using it for this large-scale development was a no-brainer.”

“There were so many benefits to using AFS Logicwall for a big project like this. The amount of Logicwall we used was significant and if we were using traditional methods, the labour costs alone in that would have been significantly higher. The CodeMark Certification was also a big plus for us, providing confidence of compliance with the most stringent building code requirements; it really delivers in that sense for a project of this scale and gives us that peace of mind. In terms of budget, it was also helpful that AFS Logicwall is a really durable substrate, which meant we didn’t have to worry about costs such as plasterboard finishing.”

The panel quality of AFS Logicwall also stood out for Brent, especially when compared to other lightweight options in the market.
