Bill's Boathouse is a beautiful, self-contained floating eco pod permanently moored on the picturesque Murray River, within the Riverglen Marina Reserve southeast of Adelaide, SA. Designed to revolutionise waterfront living, the eco home features a striking deck built using recycled railway sleepers.

Bill’s Boathouse

The iconic eco pod has been constructed entirely from natural materials, with the standout feature being the railway sleeper decking made from 100% recycled Australian hardwoods. It has captured the attention of many, with published features in Green Getaways, Design Building Expo, South Australia, and Homes Au.

Our recycled railway sleeper decking has a huge scope for creativity and individualistic design and is a unique and stylish addition to any property.

The accommodation at Bill's Boathouse is utterly different to anything else, with ‘being green’ at the forefront of the design from the moment you enter. It blends its rustic charm perfectly with the natural surroundings. What sets it apart is the wraparound timber deck made from our recycled sleepers – not only does it look fantastic, but it also offers sensational views down the river.

The decking is made of a mix of salvaged Australian hardwood from disbanded railway lines and includes typical species such as ironbark, redgum, tallowwood and stringybark.

The hardwoods make it durable and long-lasting and provides a unique and rustic aesthetic that is hard to replicate with other materials. The decking boards have been expertly installed to create a seamless flow from the Boathouse to the river's edge, making it a perfect spot for enjoying the beauty of the Murray River.

Recycled timber is becoming increasingly popular in the construction and design industry, providing eco-friendly solutions to the ever-growing demand for wood, while adding character and a unique aesthetic to spaces indoors and out. Our product is particularly sought after, as it has a distinct rustic charm perfect for creating that cosy and inviting atmosphere. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of making sustainable choices in design and construction and its positive impact on our environment.

The Boathouse is a testament to the versatility and durability of this unique material, and we are proud to have been a part of its creation. It is a prime example of how this product is used to create functional as well as beautiful properties – transforming an ordinary place into an exceptional one, with creativity and innovation at its finest.

We are super proud to have been a part of this project, and we hope it inspires others to consider railway sleeper decking for their developments. Imagine spending your day lounging on a deck made from reclaimed railway sleepers, enveloped by the stunning natural beauty of your surroundings?
