MGA Architects was commissioned to create a very unique rooftop bar and nightclub in Waikiki, Hawaii.
Sky Waikiki features a composite decking supported by QwickBuild deck frames. However, there were several challenges for the architects as well as the contractors during the execution of the rooftop bar project. Accessibility to the high-rise rooftop was difficult, which was overcome by the lightweight QwickBuild joists and bearers supplied as a kit-set at custom lengths. Outdure also sent a project manager to Hawaii for onsite support and training of the contractors.
QwickBuild was specified to support an independent composite board over a waterproof membrane because of its low-risk attributes over membrane and low-height, long-span capabilities.
Outdure supplied QwickBuild deck framing along with a range of fasteners for the 275-square-metre project while the composite board for the decking was sourced by the client.
The iconic Sky Waikiki was awarded the 2015 New Development Excellence Award.
