Deck frames, decking and synthetic turf from Outdure were installed in the courtyard of a building at Newcastle University during a refit project. The university building along with its courtyard was repurposed to provide an open and collaborative learning environment for students. The refit designed by Space Design Architecture included a casual outdoor eating and leisure area.
A major challenge during the planning stage was to achieve the desired layout with no major alteration required to be made to the existing multi-level substrate.
QwickBuild deck frames were specified because they were able to achieve a low finished height from the substrate and a flush finish with the interior floor. QwickBuild’s ability to integrate multiple surface finishes was also an advantage.
QwickBuild was installed over the existing pavers and slab, covering an area of 275 square metres.
Outdure products featured in the project included QwickBuild deck frames, ResortDeck decking in Havana colour with Ultrashield technology, and UltraPlush Turf – Spring Deluxe, a durable synthetic turf product with simple maintenance.
