A recent project in Mosman, Sydney saw the application of a StoneSet Permeable Paving material to create a pathway that could be safely used by persons with limited mobility.
Many homeowners living in Sydney suburbs such as Mosman have to deal with sloping blocks, which can be challenging for an aging population. To help improve usability, steps can be swapped for a ramped pathway. However, with steep slopes and a loose gravel finish, the surface can quickly get washed away, making the pathway unusable and unsafe.
The project brief for the Mosman application required StoneSet to "match the decomposed granite that is currently down but with maximum non-slip surface that is level and essentially bound/fixed rather than the existing loose rough surface".
The existing deco granite pathway provided the perfect base for StoneSet’s 6mm Yellow Sienna crushed rock, which was used to provide a beautiful natural looking pathway, similar in colour to the deco granite but with great slip resistance. With no loose stone or risk of a washout in the rain, the new pathway created with StoneSet’s permeable paving provided a smooth and safe trafficable surface for residents.
