Three innovative products from C.R. Laurence have been selected as
winners in Architectural Record Magazine's 2014 Record Products Competition.
Nominees for the competition are selected by an esteemed panel of
leading architects, designers, and specifiers assembled by the highly regarded
architecture and design publication to highlight the market's most promising,
sustainably-driven and beautifully designed products that have the ability to
challenge conventional methods and ultimately elevate the industry at large.
The 2014 competition saw the panel select the year's best architectural
products from among 500 entries using criteria that support a strong commitment
to innovation, aesthetics, and purpose. Three CRL products impressed
Architectural Record's editors and jurors, and were honoured in the 2014 Record
Products Competition.
CRL-U.S. Aluminum's unit-glazed window wall system received the top honour
as ‘Best in Category’ for Facades (Window Walls, Glazing, Cladding, Thermal and
Moisture Barriers), while CRL-Blumcraft Designer Series panic handles and CRL's
8B square base shoe were featured as winners in their respective ‘Openings’
(Windows, Doors, Hardware, Daylighting Tools) and ‘Outdoor and Recreational’
(Gates, Railings, Shelters, Site Furnishings) categories.
CRL-U.S. Aluminum's unit-glazed window wall system allows contractors to
fabricate window wall and storefront units in the retail environment,
effectively reducing labour by as much as 50%, and resulting in substantial
cost savings. The system's special unit split mullions and gravity loaded sill
flashing components assist installers in easily snapping unit-glazed sections together.
CRL-Blumcraft Designer Series panic handles were recognised for their
smooth surfaces and sharp lines in rounded 'D' profiles that provide users with
a contemporary aesthetic and function. Being UL305, ULC-S132-07, and ANSI/BHMA
A156.3-2008, Grade 1 Certified, the panic handles satisfy exacting performance
demands. The Designer Series panic handles also feature crisp, investment cast
corners for durability, and a consistent look and feel.
CRL's 8B Series square base shoe is designed for use with CRL's patented
GRS TAPER-LOC glass railing system. With lower aluminium content, it is 30%
lighter than its predecessor, reducing shipping costs. The 8B square base shoe maintains
the industry's conventional profile and high performance attributes while allowing
easier handling for faster installation.
Lloyd Talbert, President of C.R. Laurence notes that their systems meet
all the criteria for performance, ease of installation, and emerging design
trends. He adds that the company takes pride in advancing the industry through
innovation-driven growth and trusted offerings from the CRL family of brands.
