C.R. Laurence Australia announces that the Monterey Series bi-folding
door system has won the Window & Door Magazine's 2014 Crystal Achievement
Award. The award honours innovation in the window and door industry.
The Monterey Series bi-folding door system by C.R. Laurence's U.S.
Aluminum Division received the 2014 Crystal Achievement Award in the ‘Most
Innovative Door’ category. Presented by the Window & Door Magazine, the
Crystal Achievement Awards recognise and honour significant innovations and
accomplishments in North American window and door design, technology, and
manufacturing.
A creative solution for residential and commercial applications, the
award-winning Monterey bi-folding door system creates seamless living spaces,
providing spectacular views and striking hybrid environments.
Key features of Monterey bi-folding door systems include a clean, modern
design with precision-engineered components allowing the wall panels to slide
smoothly with minimal effort; can be thermally broken for improved energy
efficiency; and available in black, white or wood grain powder coat as well as
anodised satin or black bronze, plus custom finishes against order.
CRL-U.S. Aluminum utilised 3D printing technology’s additive
manufacturing process during the R&D phase to craft more precise prototype
components, enabling engineers to modify and strengthen the Monterey system's
design more efficiently than traditional manufacturing methods. Using 3D
printing's faster production process for prototype components, CRL-U.S.
Aluminum was able to engineer, test, customise, and iterate Monterey forms in a
matter of hours instead of weeks.
Lloyd Talbert, President of C.R. Laurence adds that Window & Door
Magazine’s recognition of the new Monterey Series with the Crystal Achievement
Award shows the company’s commitment to engineering quality architectural
systems, and to the architects, installers and end users who trust them.
