Coating surface positions
This whitepaper explores coating surface positions in glass make-ups based on factors like coating type, glass make-up, and application. Emphasising the significance of grasping surface counts in various glass configurations (single glazed, double glazed, and triple glazed units), it also discusses detailed guidelines for coating placement, taking into account factors like LowE type, tinted glass, and specific applications.
Coating surface positions in glass make-ups depend on several key factors:
- the type of coating it is
- the total glass make-up being used (eg. single glazed vs double glazed)
- other glass being used in the make-up
- the application of what the glass is being used for
To give a clear understanding and cover the above, we must cover some basics… All glass, no matter how thin, will always have 2 surfaces. We count these surfaces from exterior to interior... on a cross section diagram, left to right. Surface #1 therefore is always outside the building facing the elements.
Below we will cover Single Glazed, Double Glazed and Triple Glazed make ups.
