Ken Maher, one of Australia’s leading figures in architecture and green building, will deliver a keynote speech for the 2015 Sustainability Awards to be held 8 October in Sydney.
As the current president of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council and President Elect of the Australian Institute of Architects National Council, Maher will share valuable insights at the industry awards, a program developed specifically to celebrate the success of those in pursuit of a sustainable built environment for Australia.
Maher is an AIA Gold Medal winner, a Hassell Fellow and a Professor with UNSW Built Environment. He is also chair of the City of Sydney’s Design Advisory Panel, a member of the Sydney Opera House Eminent Architects Panel and a board member of Urban Growth NSW and the Co-operative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living—his strong interest in the role of design in contributing to public life precedes him.
The 2015 Sustainability Awards ceremony will be held 8 October at Doltone House in Sydney and is shaping up to be one of the premier architecture events on the 2015 calendar.
The task of selecting this year’s winners has been taken on by an impressive group of judges, including dwp|suters’ National Sustainability Leader Rory Martin; Lend Lease Senior Sustainability Consultant Darryl Stuckey; Envirotecture founding director Dick Clarke; Norman Disney & Young Global Sustainability Director Tony Arnel; and Suzie Barnett, a 2014 judge and a key player in establishing the green building movement in Australia.
The judges have already revealed 68 finalists across 10 categories for this year’s event, from which category winners and a Best of the Best prize will be picked and revealed on the night.
