Opinions are split between old and new after design options for the new Christchurch Cathedral were unveiled. Architects and critics want the earthquake-damaged structure to be restored to its original gothic appearance, rejecting two contemporary proposals as "bizarre" and "architecturally illiterate". Mayor, Bob Parker believes the contemporary option ''points us to where we need to be thinking as a city''.
