The company has announced the launch of the Reece Bathroom Innovation Awards (BIA) 2011, a product design competition.
The BIA was established in 2005 by Reece to encourage and celebrate original bathroom product design and aims to showcase creativity and reward design excellence.
It offers local designers an opportunity to shape the bathrooms of tomorrow and is open to both design professionals and students studying design.
Entrants are asked to design an innovative bathroom design piece from a prepared list of product categories including tapware, showers, toilets, baths, vanity basins and bathroom furniture.
Reece offers $35,000 in prize money - $20,000 to the winner of the professional category, $10,000 to the winner of the student category and the remaining $5,000 to the institution at which the winning student is enrolled.
Entries are judged by a team of industry leaders from the fields of design, architecture, retailing and marketing. The winners of the 2010 Reece BIA enjoyed significant international media coverage including profiles in New York, Dubai, Singapore and Russia.
Peter Wilson, Reece CEO, said: “since its inception in 2005, the BIA has become one of the country’s most respected product design competitions, which we are very proud of. It demonstrates our commitment to the local design industry and, importantly, provides local designers with a platform to showcase their work to the world.”
Entries for the BIA 2011 will be open from 1 March, 2011, and will close on 31 May, 2011.
