Absolutely Covered has recently completed a major installation in regional Australian shopping centre.
The awnings manufacturer installed seven 7 m hyper shaped sails, all using Gale Commercial 95 shade cloth, in the MagnetMart Car Park in Griffith, after helping with the initial design with Lefler Simes Architects.
The installation, which was overseen by builders Griffith Lifestyle Centre, Dennis Salvestrin and James Scremin, took three days to complete, finishing in the allotted time.
Absolutely Covered supplied the loadings on the sails to enable the architect’s engineer to design the steelwork, for the sails which had a maximum height of 7m and a lowest point of 5.2m. The sails were designed using a 3D modelling program to produce the correct flying shape once the sail had been tensioned.
All sails and fittings, the latter which are stainless steel, were engineered and were certified with an engineer’s certificate. The shade cloth itself comes with a warranty of 10 years.
