Apaiser Bathware is unveiling a new work of art by Melbourne born and
world acclaimed contemporary artist James Reka at its Richmond showroom on Wednesday
12th November.
Now based in Berlin, Reka is a leading figure in the contemporary art
scene of Europe. Reka’s sensational artwork on an apaiser Sentosa bath was the
hit of the Maison et Objet design show during Singapore Design Week earlier
this year. The painting was commissioned by apaiser as the feature of their
award-winning stand at the prestigious Maison et Objet Asia 2014, an anchor
event of the Singapore Design Week. apaiser’s participation at Maison et Objet Asia
2014 was timed to coincide with the launch of a signature apaiser showroom in Singapore.
Reka was flown to Singapore to create this unique one-off piece of art
and lend his inimitable style to apaiser’s design and bathware presentation.
Signifying that bathing is ‘an art form’ rather than simply a function, the ‘Painted
Lady’ artwork on the bath became the talking point of the show.
apaiser will be celebrating the arrival of this one-of-a-kind statement
in bathware with an exclusive cocktail architect and designer evening on 12th November.
The painted bath will be available for sale at apaiser’s Richmond showroom.
apaiser’s bathware redefines the traditional bathroom space by combining
sculptural form with minimalist aesthetic. Designed in Melbourne, apaiser’s
hand-sanded and hand-finished stone composite baths are manufactured using reclaimed
sustainable ingredients with the unique hand-finishing process minimising
carbon output during production, and ensuring low environmental impact.
