Australian Disabled Access Consultants successfully negotiated disabled access for a retirement village housing estate at Kincumber by Living Choice Australia, and designed by Cardno (NSW/ACT) for two new villa home self-contained dwellings with ground level lock-up garages and attached rear private courtyard.
Australian Disabled Access Consultants disabled access assessment report assessed the Cardno (NSW/ACT) concept design drawings and design statement for State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing for Seniors & People with Disabilities) 2004 and Australian Standards AS4299, AS1428.1 and AS1428.2 disabled access and wheelchair access design guidelines.
The project designer, Cardno (NSW/ACT), provided disabled access and wheelchair access within the design of both retirement village villa home dwellings for:
- continuous safe pathways of travel between the estate’s internal roadway to each villa home’s front entry doorways
- continuous safe paths of travel within each villa home’s external areas
- villa home entries
- doorway widths and corridor widths
- wheelchair access
- combined sanitary facility and visitable toilet facilities
- floor-ceiling heights along all movement pathways
- kitchen design layout and furniture fit-out
- living room and dining room layout
- laundry room layout
- private courtyards
- garage parking arrangements.

- the guiding principles of the Disabilities Discrimination Act
- State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing for Seniors & People with Disabilities) 2004
