The Australian International Furniture Fair will showcase the latest in furniture and furnishings design when it returns to the Sydney Exhibition Centre from 2-4 February 2011. Over 200 Australian and international exhibitors will be participating in the annual event, which explores the industry’s hottest trends, unearths emerging talent and offers insights from global design opinion leaders.
Australian brands showing at the fair as part of the Australian Manufacturer’s Showcase include Laidir, specialists in hardwood furniture designs. Laidir’s unique indoor and outdoor furniture is custom designed and handcrafted to world-class standards using certified, reclaimed or recycled Australian hardwood.
Elegant handcrafted sofas can be found at Papillion Furniture, along with other quality, custom made to order furniture. All made in Australia in their Melbourne factory, Papillion sofas are handcrafted the old fashion way with quality materials and fine workmanship.
One of Australia’s largest furniture manufacturers, Lounge Innovation will also be exhibiting at the fair. Lounge Innovation is strong on contemporary design and produces a large range of lounge furniture, chairs, ottomans for both commercial and residential environments.
First time exhibitor, Monsoon Imports will make their debut with stunning outdoor and indoor furniture ranges, homewares and canvas paintings. Monsoon also owns the exclusive distribution rights to Indonesian furniture brand Cempaka, which pays homage to the country’s rich heritage of artists and craftsmen. This range has already attracted strong interest from resorts and stylists.
Also exhibiting will be Urban Edge, a leader in innovative and contemporary stainless steel furniture. Combining stainless steel with vibrant colours and materials, the product line includes outdoor settings, occasional furniture, benches, splashbacks and stools.
The Edge – Design & Innovation Showcase will be returning to this year’s fair, showcasing work from Australia’s hottest upcoming design talent. The showcase will feature over 50 emerging designers competing in the categories of Student, Commercial, Concept and Green.
The Australian International Fair is co-located with Decoration + Design. Also returning to the Fair in 2011 will be the hugely popular Hotel + Hospitality furnishings, providing a source of inspiration to Australian hotels, motels, clubs and restaurants. 2011 will also see the debut of the co-located Flooring & Finishes Show, which is held in association with the Australian Timber and Flooring Association.
