With the opening of DECORATION + DESIGN 06 only a few weeks away, Australian Exhibitions andConferences can announce the much anticipated release of the 2006 Trend Book which will be available exclusively to visitors and exhibitors.
The Trend Book is sure to become a ‘much-thumbed’ resource on the desk of interior decorators, interior designers, furniture designers, manufacturers, architects - in fact anyone with a passion for design. But don’t be mistaken. This is not a ‘how to’ of interior design for, surely, there is no such thing. Rather, this is an inspired collection, a sophisticated scrapbook of thoughts, ideas, cuttings, images, concepts and philosophies. According to its editor, Barbara Marshall, “It is the beginnings of a conversation, a dialogue between the room, the designer and the inhabitants to express in concrete form the emotional connection between place and person.”
The Trend Book is a collaborative effort, the result of the second Trend Concertation held in October 2005. During this creative think tank the concept for this year’s theme of Ark’aeology was born. Within it, the group’s participants explored the concept of shelter and how we preserve the things we value most. The Trend Book explores this concept via four distinct design themes of Ivory Tower, Shack Chic, Bunker and Menagerie.
The Trend Concertation is a forum of 12 industry experts from varying disciplines who met in October 2005 to discuss the future trends that they believe will influence the industry in 2007 and beyond. The participants in this group were chosen for their expertise and industry experience in Australia and internationally.
The Trend Concertation participants and therefore those directly involved in the development of the Trend Book are: Barbara Marshall of Marshall Design, Bree Leech of Godfrey Hirst Carpets, Eric Steverink of Brintons Carpets, Hilde D’haeseleer of Textivision (Belgium), Jane Stockel of Jane Stockel Designs, Lucy Sutherland of Porter’s Paints, Fiona Barker of Colour Designs, Marie Howley of Beautiful Room, Maria Uglietta of George Fethers, Mark Watson of Design Providence, Penny Granger of The Gibbon Group and Susanna de Vienne of Boyac.
The Trend Book will only be available at the Inspiration Pavilion at DECORATION + DESIGN 06. Visitors can also pre-order via the website (www.decorationdesign.com.au) to avoid disappointment.
