A polyurethane coating system and topcoat from Australian Urethane Systems have been used to waterproof the helipad at Orange Base Hospital in Western Australia.
POLYEURO 5502F and Staingard Topcat were applied to seal the leaking deck and provide long term wear protection of the concrete surface.
The membrane needed to be impervious to water and jet fuel, and provide a seamless application to the concrete surface.
Superior crack bridging properties were essential of the polyurethane coating as the one year old slab was leaking water into operating theatres.
Additionally, the polyurethane coating provided an extremely fast cure, so as to minimise the time the helipad was offline.
It has provided abrasion and impact resistance to the helipad, meaning it is able to withstand mechanical damage from aircraft landing on the deck.
