Botton + Gardiner’s Urban Seat 1 and Bench Seat 12 are to be used at a new mixed-use development in Mascot, NSW, on the northern edge of the Sydney International Airport.
According to Alex Longley, Principal at Arcadia Landscape Architecture, this project will be the largest single mixed use development in NSW after Barangaroo.
The site at 10-20 McEvoy Street is part of the Mascot Station Town Centre Precinct Master plan prepared in April 2012, and will be transformed from an industrial site to a contemporary high density apartment typology.
The public realm landscape is a critical element of the plans, envisioned as a series of flexible and adaptable public spaces.
Here, supplementary street furniture may be included throughout the streets and public zones.
Botton + Gardiner’s Urban Seat 1 has been selected as one of the possible benches to be utilised in the open spaces. As the flagship of the company’s Urban range, the seat features Australian hardwood on a cast aluminium frame.
The aluminium is polished or powder coated, while the slats are finished with an Ultraviolet Resistant Pigmented Oil (U) or Ebony Stain (UE)
This contemporary interpretation of the classic park bench offers an elegant seating solution for indoor and outdoor spaces, such as the public streets of the new Mascot development.
Alternatively, Botton + Gardnier’s Bench Seat 12 can be utilised in the public spaces to offer amenity for visitors and residents.
Offering a wide flat surface for casual seating or lounging in a park environment, the Bench Seat 12 is available with 12 slats at 850mm wide, or ‘stretched’ with 15 slats giving a 1050mm wide seat area.
The products must first be approved by Council.
