A spacious, custom designed family home in Adelaide utilised window and door framing systems from Carinya Residential Windows & Doors for natural light, privacy and seamless integration of the indoor-outdoor areas.
Created by award-winning firm Exterior Dimensions, specialists in custom designing new homes and additions, this sophisticated two-level home on Darebin St, Mile End features four bedrooms and integrated indoor-outdoor living areas, with high wall-length windows on both levels ensuring a generous flow of natural light into every room.
Carinya’s feature awning and fixed windows have been expertly positioned to maximise light while protecting privacy for the home’s occupants. Created by Alspec, Carinya products come in two ranges – Classic and Select – both suitable for new low rise developments or renovations, with the premium Select range offering additional styles and configurations.
A series of high awning and fixed windows from the Carinya Classic range was used on both the lower and upper levels of the home to provide light without compromising privacy. Based on Alspec’s commercial range, these windows benefit from extremely strong and durable sashes designed to accommodate up to 18mm double glazed glass. An integrated 50mm wide sill can easily accommodate standard or restricted-opening chain winder mechanisms.
In addition to the windows, Carinya Classic sliding doors were installed on the ground level of the home to allow easy integration of the living areas when required. The large panelled doors provide a seamless flow between the indoor kitchen/ living/ dining area and the outdoor alfresco dining space. The Classic sliding doors operate effortlessly thanks to their integrated proprietary roller system from Alspec, which comes in two types: the general system accommodating up to 80kg per panel and the heavy duty commercial system used with extra-large sashes or double glazing loads up to 160kg per panel.
Carinya sliding doors incorporate threshold and jamb in-fills, end caps to conceal all cavities and internally concealed weather flaps, eliminating the exposed tracks found on conventional residential sliding doors. This design also minimises opportunities for dirt and grit to collect while reducing air, water and pest infiltration, ensuring the optimum performance of the doors in all conditions.
Installed by AA Windows & Doors, Alspec products used in the project included Carinya Classic awning and fixed windows, Carinya sliding doors, Carinya Select 125 hinged doors and Invisi-Gard hinged doors, all in Interpon Satin Black finish.
