The Dragon Labour Hire team headed down to Total Construction’s site at Stanhope Gardens to create awareness for the annual R U OK Day.
The mission of the #RUOKDay event is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. Over a fun day of support, conversations and food, an effort is made to increase awareness of R U OK’s mission: Boost confidence to meaningfully connect and ask about life's ups and down; Nurture our sense of responsibility to regularly connect and support others; Strengthen our sense of belonging because we know people are there for us; and, Be relevant, strong and dynamic.
Proudly supporting R U OK Day, MATES in Construction is a charity that works to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. Members of the organisation foster ownership and control of the program within the Australian building and construction industry.
The MATES in Construction program is based on the simple idea that ‘suicide is everyone’s business’ and that if the building and construction industry in Australia is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of workers and reduce suicide, then it cannot be left only to mental health professionals; rather everyone in the industry must play their part.
