Construction on a new mixed use industrial and commercial project is currently underway in Brookvale, NSW with labour being supplied by Dragon Labour Hire, a division of The Dragon Group. Executed by Rohrig Construction, the project on Pittwater Road combines industrial units, self-storage units and an all-new childcare centre. Approached by Rohrig for the supply of quality tradespeople, Dragon provided both labourers and carpenters for the job.
Rohrig Construction specialises in hospitality and education projects in Brisbane and Sydney with their portfolio comprising of contracts up to $25 million in value in the form of Strathfield Golf Club and the new Crow’s Nest Hotel.
The Brookvale site consisted of an old foundry, which was completely demolished with Dragon’s labour team involved in shovelling rubble and casting metal. Site Manager David Neumann wanted to introduce environment-friendly practices in the project and sought to reuse the waste from a neighbouring excavation site as indigenous refill on Rohrig’s project. This not only helped the company reduce costs on filling but also contributed to renewing resources in the environment.
Work has just begun on the joinery and fitouts within the childcare section of the build, especially in the outdoor play area located in the tree-filled garden. The storage units being constructed on the site offer the advantage of a prime location for small businesses and investors and have already been snapped up by buyers.
Rohrig used up to five members of Dragon’s labour team and acknowledged their high standard of work and enthusiasm in completing jobs. The project is expected to be completed in the next few months.
