An easily-installed system aimed at saving the cold water that sits in hot water pipes won the Bunnings Product of the Year category for NSW-based company, Dux Hot Water at the seventh annual HIA GreenSmart Housing Awards.
There is a significant amount of wastage when cold water in the pipes is flushed out waiting for hot water to come though. Under Dux’s Readyhot Water Recirculation System the cold water is recirculated and reheated at the touch of a button, cutting back on the wastage.
“In tandem with the greenhouse savings, we believe this simple but effective product reflects how GreenSmart can change the way our homes operate,” judges said.
Congratulating Dux Hot Water, HIA Managing Director Ron Silberberg said the awards, at the Sydney Hilton Hotel, were a fitting conclusion to the association’s National Planning Conference which had seen participation of a high-profile slate of national and international speakers.
“This year’s record number of entries, and the introduction of a new category for Estate of the Year, shows the continued growth of these awards in the industry,” he said. “The awards are solid evidence of HIA’s support of sustainable residential development in Australia and provide an opportunity for HIA members to be recognised as the best in the business through GreenSmart.”
