Fabritecture was recently selected to supply and install various custom shade sails and fabric structures for a 1266m2 redevelopment project at Moranbah Aquatic Centre in North Queensland.
The large-scale project is running on time for scheduled completion in December, and requires four structures in total; a 799m2 pool enclosure, 212m2 of tiered seating and cantilevered shade structure, 120m2 of shade sails for the children’s water play area and 135m2 of shade sails for the children’s dry play area.
The focal point of the project is the 23.5m x 34m swimming pool enclosure that incorporates strip footing, a structural steel frame, clear PVC blinds and white translucent Ferrari 902S fabric.
Another heavily reworked space is the poolside area that will feature 5.3m x 20m tiered cantilevered seating structures protected by a brightly coloured Monotec 370 shadecloth.
The two new fresh play areas for children and toddlers will also be covered by vibrant custom shade sails in Monotec 370 shadecloth, specifically engineered to suit North Queensland local wind and weather conditions, as well as provide both UV and shade protection.
The experienced Fabritecture team were required custom design and construct these structures as well as manufacture and supply the fabric and steel. The project also required fabric pattern customisation as well as the supply of all necessary hardware including aluminium extrusions.
