A bespoke carpet solution, colour customised using Designer Jet technology, was created for the new interactive classrooms at the Melbourne campus of the William Angliss Institute to meet specific design goals. The talented GH Commercial design team helped realise the design vision with a vibrant customised answer that brought the whole project to life.
William Angliss Institute is Australia’s largest specialist training facility for Foods, Tourism, Hospitality and Events Education and Training, providing a wide selection of short courses, accredited traineeships and apprenticeships, certificates, diplomas, and bachelor and master degrees. Operating for over 80 years, they provide training for local and international students on campus or through workplace training right across the country, with international consultancy services earning them global acclaim.
Paul Morgan Architects (PMA) was tasked with developing the Hotel School section of the Melbourne Campus, creating interactive classrooms with an identifiable hospitality aesthetic. Along with incorporating the William Angliss branding livery of orange and black, the flooring also needed to support wayfinding and zoning measures to help students transition between spaces.
Carnival Magic Custom Carpet
Selected from our vast online library, the distinctive Carnival design featuring a regularly tracking pattern of elongated hourglass shapes was colour customised using Designer Jet technology. Running across a black background, the bright citrus motifs delivered a sense of fun and energy to the space, perfect for encouraging socialising and stimulating creativity.
This was juxtaposed with a muted herringbone patterned carpet produced in the same colour palette and used to delineate breakout areas and walkways. Seamlessly bridging the divide between Education carpet and Hospitality carpet, the 1.96m wide cut pile Designer Jet sheets teamed distinctive design flair with high grade commercial flooring.
