Several flooring solutions from GH Commercial were specified for the luxury boutique apartments at Oak Tree Pelican Waters, a brand-new retirement development from the Oak Tree Group located moments from the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches. Combining high functionality with stylish form, GH Commercial’s flooring products met the unique requirements of the senior living complex.
Oak Tree Group

With an emphasis on the promotion of mental wellness, physical health, security and companionship, each of the Oak Tree retirement communities offers maintenance-free living, caring, supportive staff and a range of purpose-built recreational facilities.
Pelican Waters
This luxury apartment complex features 60 architect-designed two- and three-bedroom apartments across five levels, with lift access to a community centre, lounge, library, beauty salon, rooftop gym, swimming pool and sky garden.
Designing around the unique requirements of senior living spaces, GH Commercial brought years of commercial carpet manufacturing experience and technological knowledge to assist with the speciality flooring solutions throughout the entire complex.
The Right Flooring
Tying in the Scandinavian style aesthetic of the Pelican Waters apartment interiors, Polaris luxury vinyl planks coordinated the entire look.
Replicating the look and feel of natural hardwood, Polaris offers a highly scratch resistant and moisture impervious* surface for easy care flooring that can be wet mopped. Comfortable underfoot, and great at minimising ambient noise, the lightly embossed, matte finish also reduces the potential for slipping.
Bayside Twist, a 100% Stratron Solution Dyed Nylon Broadloom, was the ideal option for comfortable bedroom carpeting. Chosen in a classic neutral shade, the soft cut pile twist provides an incredibly hardwearing carpet that’s fire rated, anti-static and comes with a stain treatment for worry-free flooring.
The common areas at Pelican Waters required cohesive flooring that could visually distinguish between specific zones while also creating wayfinding paths. Our popular Lichen 1.5 Collection of carpet tiles proved to be a standout choice.
This adaptable range, inspired by the manifold shapes and colours of lichen clusters and their symbiotic relationship with nature, complemented the organic decor on each level of the facility. Intentionally produced to mix and match, a combination of Macro Bloom and Micro Bloom carpet tiles seamlessly linked various common areas with co-ordinated pops of colour.
Biophilic design principles informed an aesthetic based around wellbeing, with stylised representations of ecological elements, such as arum lily and lush palm frond wallpaper and sea foam feature walls.
A selection of Lichen 1.5 Macro and Micro Bloom tiles in 956 Iceland Moss, 945 Silva, 941 Goldspeck and 937 frosted Shield, picked up the individual colour themes and reinforced these biophilic details.
The patterned, textured loop pile of Australian manufactured Lichen 1.5 carpet tiles and planks is made from Duracolor Tricor Solution Dyed Nylon, and certified Declare Red List Free. Produced on the Enviro Bac backing system, they contribute to a safer, healthier interior.
