Believe in Better – GH Commercial’s sustainability motto keeps it simple but real, with the company wholeheartedly committed to advancing this shared mission of a more sustainable future.
As an industry leader in flooring, one of GH Commercial’s key sustainability pillars is Resource Stewardship. The new palletised warehouse at Truganina was planned to accommodate the company’s ever-expanding Australian operations as well as support their commitment to further reducing emissions across their operations.
The Shiny Drive, Truganina warehouse is a centralised distribution centre capable of storing over 1 million square metres of commercial flooring, including carpet tiles and planks, vinyl planks, engineered timber, and hybrid and laminate flooring products. Spread across an enormous 14,402 square metres of floor space with commensurate flat roofed surface, the facility was ideally placed to harness renewable, solar power onsite.
Following the installation of approximately 220 solar panels, the Shiny Drive warehouse now features a 100kW solar power system, generating enough clean energy to power over half of the facility, while reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
This initiative supports GH Commercial’s Climate Active Carbon Neutral Organisation certification to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across their entire business operations. Under Climate Active, all remaining CO2 emissions generated at the warehouse are offset through Australian reforestation and international renewable energy projects – co-benefits of which include enhanced biodiversity, habitat protection, employment creation, facilitating people to live and work on country, improving health outcomes and provision of affordable energy.
As a proud Australian and New Zealand manufacturer, GH Commercial seeks out local solutions for the global climate challenge.
