Codymo Lawyers, Devonport’s oldest law firm established in 1975, has grown to serve a broad client base across Auckland, regional New Zealand, and overseas. To modernise and better serve their clients, the firm renovated their office, integrating contemporary design with elements of New Zealand’s natural beauty.
Embracing biophilic design principles, Codymo Lawyers aimed to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. This was achieved using the Native Collection, a flooring series inspired by the bark grain of trees native to Australia and New Zealand. The designs – Eucalypt, Ironbark, and Toatoa – feature natural hues and organic patterns, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Utilising Pattern Perfect® technology, these durable, solution-dyed nylon carpet planks enhance the aesthetic and functionality of the office
The biophilic design approach promotes wellbeing and productivity by bringing nature indoors. The soothing foundation provided by the Native Collection’s natural hues and patterns creates a relaxing and productive environment for both staff and clients.
Codymo Lawyers’ office renovation successfully modernises the space while honouring New Zealand’s natural beauty. The integration of biophilic design principles through the Native Collection not only meets contemporary standards but also fosters a welcoming, nature-infused environment that enhances wellbeing and productivity. This project exemplifies the value of incorporating natural elements into urban office design.
