Woolloomooloo Wharf, or Finger Wharf as it is more commonly known, has been fitted out with 25 Helioshade motorised articulated arm awnings from Helioscreen .
Existing awnings were replaced with the motorised awnings, which are controlled by automatic time clock and have wind and motion control sensors.
Premium wind rated awnings were installed to protect outdoor dining areas from the elements.
Finger Wharf is home to some of Sydney’s finest restaurants – Akis, China Doll, Manta, Otto and Kingsleys – and The Blue Hotel, which is frequented by visiting celebrities.
Strong sun is blocked because of the retractable awnings, along with a reduction in heat and glare for these establishments.
The project was coordinated by the local Sydney Helioscreen agent, who dealt directly with the Wharf building management.
The retractable awnings are made from premium Helio 100 waterproof fabric, which offers self-cleaning properties. It took six weeks to custom manufacture the systems and approximately two weeks to install.
Motorised awnings from Helioscreen come with a five year warranty and offer maximum projection of 4.5m and maximum width up to 8m. They are made from high grade aluminium and rust proof stainless steel components.
