A mix of reclaimed and sustainable timbers from Kennedys Classic Aged Timbers was used at Nishi NewActon, considered to be the most sustainable building in Canberra. Nishi was designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects (Melbourne) for the developer Molonglo Group.
A mixed use precinct, NewActon offers hospitality, landscaped gardens, art, retail, residential and commercial spaces, all linked by an inspired vision. Nishi, completed in 2014 is a uniquely designed residential complex offering 220 apartments.
Nishi’s sustainable highlights include an eight-star NatHERS rating average, solar passive design, rainwater collection and sustainable materials used in its construction.
Kennedy’s was approached to provide a number of mixed reclaimed and sustainable timbers.
NewActon's Nishi building won International Project of the Year at the 2015 Building Awards in London.
