The first Kobelco SK55SRX-6 excavator in Australia has begun operation and is expected to bring significant cost savings to its new owner.
Callum Roberts, owner of Pro-Dig Earthworks in Australia, who recently took delivery of the new excavator, expects the machine to provide improved fuel economy that will help him remain competitive in the market. Pro-Dig is based in Launceston but operates across Tasmania, with 17 staff and 15 pieces of plant and machinery, including seven Kobelco excavators.
Callum explained that he chose the Kobelco SK55SRX-6 for its fuel economy in an environment of rising diesel costs. He observes that lower fuel costs will help reduce their overheads and improve the bottom line while allowing them to offer customers competitive rates.
Pro-Dig takes up a wide variety of jobs that demand a lot of grunt including commercial civil works, car parks, house footings, plumbing excavations, bulking out houses and digging trenches. They are confident the SK55SRX-6 will deliver the expected results, based on the proven performance and toughness of their other Kobelco excavators.
Pro-Dig’s new SK55SRX-6 is very popular with Callum’s operators for features such as a larger cab with bigger windows and plenty of mirrors; enhanced operator comfort, which is critical when working for long periods in challenging environments; ability to accommodate a wide range of attachments, which is essential for Pro-Dig’s spread of work; and ease of maintenance, with everything that needs attention out in the open and convenient to reach.
Kobelco’s SK55SRX-6 excavator is able to handle attachments such as tilt hitches, rock grabs, augers and rock breakers with ease. The new Kobelco iNDr filter is especially impressive as it ensures any air heading into the machine has to pass through the filter.
Pro-Dig purchased their latest Kobelco from D&L Morrison in Tasmania. Callum also appreciates the prompt support he receives from the team at D&L Morrison.
