World-leading solar technology company, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGi) has been awarded the ISO 20400 for Sustainable Procurement by SGS, marking the company's outstanding achievements in the field of sustainable procurement management.
Sustainable procurement is an important part of a company's sustainable development strategy. The ISO 20400 Guidance provides a comprehensive framework to help organisations reduce the impact on the environment through sustainable procurement. It also helps organisations address issues such as human rights, labour practices, fair operations, managing relationships with suppliers, improving costs, and enhancing purchasing performance.
Obtaining this certificate is a milestone in the construction of LONGi's green sustainable supply chain, not only demonstrating its sense of responsibility as a global leader in green energy technology innovation, but also showing its firm determination to closely integrate procurement management with social and environmental sustainable development and ESG requirements in global operations.
Tian Ye, Vice President of LONGi, said: "LONGi has always adhered to a customer-centric approach, actively responding to the expectations of customers and other stakeholders for LONGi's green sustainable supply chain. By fully implementing the ISO 20400 system, we have integrated sustainable procurement management into the entire lifecycle procurement practices, continuously conveying the concept of sustainable development to upstream and downstream enterprises in the supply chain, adhering to the procurement principles of fairness, justice, openness, and transparency, and jointly building a sustainable and responsible procurement system to ensure the security and sustainability of the supply chain and achieve a win-win situation."
Since 2022, LONGi has successively launched the ‘Green Partner Empowerment Plan’ and the ‘Green Sustainable Supply Chain Action’, carried out ESG/CSR audits for suppliers, promoted the management policy of conflict minerals procurement, helped suppliers carry out carbon inventory and energy saving and emission reduction, and continuously practiced sustainable development of the supply chain.
In order to integrate the concept of sustainability into the company's procurement strategy, LONGi's supply chain department has designed in conjunction with the group's sustainable development and ESG planning requirements, coordinated across departments, and proposed a sustainable procurement policy of ‘fairness, justice, integrity, compliance with business ethics, practicing corporate social responsibility, advocating green procurement, and achieving mutual benefit and win-win’, formulated a series of sustainable procurement policies and action plans, and efficiently implemented them in the company's operations, ultimately gaining recognition from third-party organisations.
LONGi's ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement certification is not only a testament to past efforts but also a new starting point for improving the sustainable management of the supply chain. With the globalisation of the company's business, the company follows relevant international standards and the laws and regulations of the countries and regions where the business is located, takes customer satisfaction as the starting point, and continuously improves risk management and sustainable procurement management performance, contributing to the sustainable development of the global green energy industry.
