The Lysaght Inspirations Design Awards (LIDA) return for 2024 to celebrate outstanding Australian architectural work that incorporates LYSAGHT® steel building products.
“We’re very excited to be able to again host these awards to recognise the outstanding contribution architects and building designers make to our built environment. If the success of previous year’s Awards is anything to go by, we can expect to again be inundated by submissions of the highest quality this year,” said Matt Lloyde, Lysaght’s National Sales, Marketing and Innovation Manager.
All entries will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges, representing the architectural fraternity, industry, and the media; and prizes will be awarded in several categories, with a new ‘People’s Choice’ award being added to this year’s competition.
The 2024 Awards categories are:
1. Residential Design: Recognising design in new houses, multi-residential buildings, alterations, additions, heritage, restoration & aged care dwellings.
2. Commercial & Industrial Design: Celebrating design in public, sporting, institutional, educational, retail & office buildings.
3. Regional Design: Acknowledging building design in regional Australia.
4. Celebrating ZENITH®: Recognising design using Lysaght’s premium range of steel roofing and walling.
5. People’s Choice: Inaugural People’s Choice award giving the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite project across all categories.
6. Student Category: Conceptual building projects featuring LYSAGHT® steel building products designed by current students and recent graduates of architecture and building design.
“The introduction of the new ‘People’s Choice’ category is particularly exciting. Whilst industry experts will judge the main categories, we want to harness the growing interest in, and appreciation of building design amongst the general public. In this way our Awards will not only recognise technical excellence in design but will also acknowledge the sentiment of the broader community,” said Lloyde.
The 2024 Awards feature a major accolade known as the ‘Lysaght Inspirations Design Award’. All category winners (apart from the Student Category) will be in the running for this prestigious award. The ultimate winner will receive a trip for two, including flights and accommodation, to the World Architectural Festival in Singapore in November this year.
In addition to the major award, a $5,000 cash prize is up for grabs in each of the five open awards categories, with the Student category winner receiving a $2,500 cash prize.
The Lysaght Inspirations Design Awards are open to architects and building designers. Nominations must clearly display a significant proportion of LYSAGHT® steel building products and refer to projects completed between January 1, 2019, and June 30, 2024.
All entries must be submitted online on the dedicated Awards website by September 1, 2024.
