Magnetite provided a noise insulation solution for a heritage building
in Sydney, which has been shortlisted for the 2014 Interior Design Excellence
Awards (IDEA).
The Claremont House Apartment, designed by TKD Architects has made the
shortlist of 2014 IDEA in the Residential Multi category. The IDEA design
awards promote the best of Australian interior and product design across
different categories.
Previously a Cadbury Fry warehouse built in 1924, the heritage building called
the Lawson Menzies House, was transformed into four unique apartments by TKD
Architects. The heritage structure contributes to the historic and aesthetic
values of the prominent Sydney precinct, The Rocks.
Magnetite was commissioned to provide noise insulation in the heritage
listed property to increase the comfort factor. Magnetite retrofitted 10mm
thickness glass panels to the existing west facing timber windows on level 2
and 3. The glazing retrofit by Magnetite helped TKD Architects retain the
aesthetic and preserve the character of the heritage building.
