An alarming amount of non-conforming building products (NCBP) has entered the Australian built environment in recent years. NCBP presents serious public health and safety risks, as their use threatens the integrity of buildings.

To combat this issue, NATSPEC has created the National Construction Product Register (NCPR), an online searchable database of construction products that have verified evidence of conformity to relevant Australian and international standards.

Benefits of NCPR database

  • Product information is readily available and accessible
  • Credible and reliable industry knowledge authenticated by NATSPEC
  • Clarifies a product’s suitability that conforms to relevant industry standards
  • Increases architects and designers’ confidence in selecting products that are safe for end users

To qualify for a listing on the NCPR, manufacturers must apply to NATSPEC and demonstrate acceptable evidence of conformity to the building industry. NATSPEC will verify prior to listing, relying on conformity assessment performed by other organisations.

The NCPR is a valuable tool that is freely available to building professionals, architects, and designers to source conforming products and check the validity of each listed product’s certification.
