Retractable insect screens from National Screens were recently used at a home in Sydney to convert an underutilised deck into a smart indoor/outdoor living room.
National Screens teamed up with the crew from Domestic Blitz to assist with the innovative transformation.
The renovation aimed to extend the existing living area utilising part of an open deck while maintaining an indoor/outdoor environment and allowing the living room to open into amazing views of the bush beyond.
Insect screens were essential to the renovation since the property backs directly on to bushland in Sydney's lower Blue Mountains, notorious for mosquitoes and other annoying insects.
Retractable insect screens from National Screens were used to enhance the indoor/outdoor feel to the home.
EZY-ROLL slow recoil retractable insect screens were installed around the perimeter of the room. The retractable design of the screens allowed the room to be instantly transformed into an open deck while offering perfect protection from insects when pulled down.
The retractable screens are fitted with a unique viscodynamic cushion system that allows the sliding bar and mesh to return to the protective cassette without undue force.
MONARCH PLUS pleated retractable screens were also installed on the main doorway leading to the deck.
These retractable screens feature a barrier-free design to facilitate smooth and safe transition for the residents from the outdoor living area to the deck. The retractable screens feature a 3mm sill high track to enable easy access even for wheelchair users.
