Compact sectional doors specialist Remax Products was contracted by Porsche Centre Melbourne to manufacture and supply a range of rapid and compact doors for the redevelopment project at the car showroom.
The redeveloped Porsche car showroom and servicing workshop opened for business in March 2016, providing a full range of sales and services for new and current clients. The design and build team incorporated state-of-the-art functionality and features within the car showroom as well as clean, functional aesthetics to create an exclusive sales experience for future Porsche owners.
Porsche Centre Melbourne is a purpose built centre, incorporating sales, parts and service including a dedicated motor sport department, financial services, and a selection boutique boasting Australia's largest range of new and pre-owned Porsche vehicles.
Remax supplied a compact sectional door, HS65 Movidor rapid roll door, and HS35 Movidor rapid roll door for the redevelopment project.
The large 5m wide HS65 Movidor high speed door at the main entrance leads to the new car showroom on one side, and an on-site dedicated servicing and restoration team on the other, where vehicles are refined by their factory trained specialists. The site also provides an on-site car wash facility accessed by two Movidor high speed rapid doors as well as a large, secure, covered car storage facility where new vehicles arrive fresh from the engineering and detailing team.
To complement the high calibre of clients and services offered by the Porsche dealership, the design and construction team required bespoke, insulated, full vision, glass, compact sectional doors to assist in maintaining the efficient, yet aesthetic flow from the first-class showroom and hand-over bay, through to the car servicing and detailing area and to the secure storage areas as well as the car wash bays. Being under cover, the redeveloped site needed access doors to assist in maintaining indoor temperatures and reduce energy loss.
The Porsche showroom required one Movidor HS65 high speed rapid exterior to interior door measuring 2700H x 5000W with a high speed motor offering 2.5 metres per second for regular day-to-day access to the site; two Movidor HS35 high speed rapid car wash doors; and seven new car showroom compact sectional doors, full vision, glazed 4mm safety glass, and door panels with aluminium on the trims in five different sizes.
Remax’s compact sectional doors were chosen for the Porsche Centre Melbourne redeveloped car showroom for several reasons:
The compact sectional door leaves fold together above the entrance while opening, saving space, and offering simple as well as maintenance-friendly operation. Traditional overhead sectional doors have several disadvantages including the need for wall space and ceiling space to allow the door panels to run up and under the ceiling; unsightly bracing and ceiling supports supporting the tracks; and exposed lifting shaft and springs adding an unsightly look in an otherwise clean and modern environment.
Unlike these doors, Remax’s compact sectional doors installed at Porsche are neat, free of any exposed springs, and compact, leaving the entire existing electrical and lighting infrastructure in the new facility undisturbed.
The doors function as a smart, full vision exit/entry point for new vehicles, receivables and second-hand vehicles, as well as vehicles coming into the facility for servicing.
The fully glazed vision panelling of the compact sectional doors allows plenty of natural light into the new facility from floor to ceiling while enabling easy access for vehicles without taking up valuable ceiling space as well as helping to maintain indoor heating/ cooling for the comfort of employees and clients.
Compact sectional doors combine high visual appeal with convenience and usability for a range of vehicles and equipment. The insulated panels of the car servicing and repair bay doors also contribute to maintaining indoor temperatures by reducing energy loss.
With the compact sectional door, the roof space can be fully utilised without impacting the door in open or closed state. This also means that the compact door can be neatly recessed into the ceiling when in a closed position for better showroom flow.
